The Final Week Before Your P&C Exam — A Day-by-Day Game Plan

You're seven days out from your Property and Casualty exam. What you do this week matters more than any other week of studying. Cramming more content in is not the answer — sharpening what you already know is.

Here's a day-by-day plan to walk in prepared, rested, and confident.

Day 7 (One Week Out): Take a Full Practice Exam

Sit a full-length, timed practice exam in conditions as close to real as possible. No phone, no notes, timed. Your score doesn't matter today — your diagnostic does. Write down your percentage by topic. That map drives your whole week.

Day 6: Attack Your Weakest Topic

Spend 80% of your time on your worst section. If it's commercial coverages, drill CGL and BAP questions until the distinctions feel automatic. Weak topics give back points faster than polishing topics you already know well.

Day 5: Attack Your Second-Weakest Topic

Same approach, next topic on the list. Alternate between reading short summaries and answering questions. Never read for more than 30 minutes without testing yourself — passive review creates false confidence.

Day 4: Flashcards and Definitions

The P&C exam is definition-heavy. Dedicate today to terms: named perils, open perils, endorsement, subrogation, abandonment, salvage, breach of warranty. Anything you can't explain in one sentence out loud becomes a flashcard.

Day 3: Second Full Practice Exam

Take another timed practice exam. Compare it to Day 7. Your improvement is your confidence evidence. Review every missed question, but do not study new material tonight — no new chapters this close to test day.

Day 2: Light Review and Logistics

90 minutes maximum. Skim your flagged questions and notes. Then do the boring stuff that saves test day: confirm your test center appointment, check the ID requirements, map your route, and decide what you'll bring. Lay out everything tonight so the morning requires zero decisions.

Day 1 (The Day Before): Rest

Do a light 30-minute skim in the morning, then stop. Eat normally, sleep fully. Everything you know is already written to memory — tonight's job is letting your brain consolidate it. All-nighters lower scores. They don't raise them.

Test Day: Execute the Plan

Arrive early. Read every question fully, flag and move on from the hard ones, and never change an answer without a reason. You already did the hard part this week. Trust it.

The Bottom Line

The last week isn't about learning more — it's about tightening what you know and removing every avoidable source of stress. Follow the plan, protect your sleep, and walk in like you belong there. After this week, you do.
