Studying for a P&C insurance exam can feel overwhelming when every chapter introduces new terms, coverages, exclusions, and rules. A focused seven-day review plan can help you turn scattered notes into a practical final review.

Day 1: Build your exam map

List the major topics covered by your exam outline: property, casualty, personal lines, commercial lines, policy provisions, insurance principles, and state-specific regulations. Mark each topic as strong, uncertain, or weak.

Day 2: Review insurance fundamentals

Start with the concepts that appear throughout the exam: risk, peril, hazard, loss, indemnity, insurable interest, underwriting, and the elements of a contract. Write a one-sentence definition and one example for each term.

Day 3: Focus on property coverages

Compare common property forms and pay attention to covered causes of loss, exclusions, conditions, limits, deductibles, and valuation. Practice explaining the difference between replacement cost and actual cash value in your own words.

Day 4: Focus on casualty coverages

Review liability concepts, negligence, bodily injury, property damage, limits of insurance, additional insureds, and common commercial liability provisions. When answering questions, identify who is seeking coverage, what happened, and which policy condition applies.

Day 5: Study commercial and personal lines side by side

Create a comparison chart. For each line, note the typical insured, covered exposures, key exclusions, and policy features. Comparing similar concepts is often more effective than rereading one chapter at a time.

Day 6: Take timed practice questions

Complete a timed set without checking your notes. For every missed question, record why your answer was wrong and which clue in the question you overlooked. Review the explanation, then try a similar question later.

Day 7: Light review and exam strategy

Do not try to learn an entire new chapter the night before the exam. Review your missed-question log, key definitions, formulas or limits you are expected to know, and any state-specific material. Get enough sleep and arrive with the identification or documents required by your testing provider.

Three test-taking reminders

Read the full question before looking at the answer choices.

Watch for words such as 最—wait, no: “best,” “except,” “not,” and “most likely.”

Eliminate clearly incorrect choices before comparing the remaining answers.

The goal of final-week studying is not perfect recall of every sentence in the textbook. It is confident recognition of the principles, coverage structure, and question wording that show up most often.

Keep studying, keep practicing, and take the exam one question at a time.

This is general educational content for exam preparation and is not legal, tax, or coverage advice. Consult your course materials and your state’s licensing authority for official requirements.
