Whether you are starting from scratch or retaking the exam, this 30-day P&C study plan will get you across the finish line. Let's go week by week.
WEEK 1: FOUNDATIONS (Days 1-7)
Focus on the basics: types of insurance, the insurance contract, key definitions, and the principle of indemnity. Your goal this week is to understand how insurance WORKS before memorizing policy details. Spend 60-90 minutes per day. Use flashcards for key vocabulary.
WEEK 2: PROPERTY COVERAGE (Days 8-14)
Dive deep into homeowners, dwelling policies, and commercial property. Learn the difference between named perils and open perils (all-risk). Study the causes of loss forms: Basic, Broad, and Special. Do 20 practice questions per day minimum.
WEEK 3: LIABILITY AND COMMERCIAL LINES (Days 15-21)
Cover personal auto, commercial auto, CGL (Commercial General Liability), and the BOP (Business Owner Policy). Understand how liability limits work: per occurrence, aggregate, and split limits. This week is dense — slow down and use diagrams to compare coverage forms.
WEEK 4: FINAL REVIEW AND MOCK EXAMS (Days 22-30)
Stop learning new material. Focus 100% on practice exams and reviewing your weak spots. Take at least 3 full-length timed practice tests. Aim for 80%+ before you schedule your real exam. Review every wrong answer — don't just note it, understand WHY you got it wrong.
THE DAY BEFORE THE EXAM
Light review only. Get 8 hours of sleep. Eat a real breakfast. You have put in the work — trust it.
